About

DAFISOM: Empowering Students, Transforming Somalia DAFISOM, a refugee-led organization, was established in 2022 through the unification of three DAFI clubs across Somalia. Under the leadership of Abdullah Salem, DAFISOM has emerged as a beacon of hope for refugees, particularly students, striving to achieve academic excellence. Our mission is to empower students by providing them with the necessary resources, scholarships, and mentorship to succeed in their educational endeavors. By offering comprehensive support, we aim to bridge the gaps faced by refugees and create a more equitable learning environment. DAFISOM is committed to disseminating relevant news and information to keep students informed and motivated. Beyond academic support, we foster leadership development through workshops, conferences, and community service initiatives. We believe that empowering students to become leaders will enable them to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities and the nation. DAFISOM recognizes the importance of education for all, especially girls. We actively promote gender equality and work towards breaking down barriers that hinder girls' access to education. By providing targeted support and advocating for their rights, we aim to create a more inclusive and equitable educational landscape. In addition to our focus on students, DAFISOM actively engages with the community. We collaborate with global and local organizations and initiatives to address pressing social issues and promote sustainable development. Through community service projects, we strive to make a positive impact and foster a sense of social responsibility among our members. DAFISOM is dedicated to transforming refugee communities by empowering students and fostering a culture of learning and leadership. We believe that education is the key to unlocking the potential of our communities and building a brighter future for generations to come.
